What can I use for . . . ? Sharing Cards

Sharing Young Living

As a Young Living Independent Member you have probably been asked, what oil can I use for . . .? As we all know, or hopefully know, we cannot answer this question. However, we do not want to be negative and “slam the door on their wonderful inquiring faces!” So, what can we do?

First, it is important to let them know that (1) we are not medical professionals and (2) Young Living products are not intended to treat/cure/heal any symptom/illness/disease so we are unable to answer their specific question.

Now that you have cleared this up you can dive into a positive conversation about wellness. Seriously, who wants to focus on negative and poor health! That alone is not good for anyone. So, what you could say (after you ensure they understand the above) is:

“I understand your enthusiasm to educate yourself. For anything below wellness you should always consult and work with your medical professional. However, there is nothing wrong with taking the time to learn more about your body and ways you can support it. Essential oils are wonderful for everyone. Some of Young Living’s products promote and support healthy body systems. In addition, some essential oils can be diffused or applied topically to enhance or create positive feelings and memories. Here is a card that lists a few of my favorite places to obtain resources about essential oils. I also offer classes/workshops to further educate people about essential oils. Just let me know if you would like to host a class/workshop. You are special and I am here for you.”

The above is just an example, a starting point, feel free to tweak it so that it fits you and your personality. Just be very careful about compliance.

Sharing Card Set

Take some of these cards with you wherever you go. You never know when the opportunity will present itself and you’ll want to be prepared so that you can “share Young Living the right way.” Be sure to place your contact information on the back of the cards. You can write this in or print labels or staple it to your business card. Whatever works best for you is fine, just be sure you do not forget to add your contact information.

Bonus — the cards are inexpensive to make!

They work best with the:

Avery Name Badge Cards #5392

You can click/touch the above link to purchase the blank cards directly from Amazon (shipped directly to your door and the price is not bad at all).

Be sure your printer setting does not “scale” the page or is set to “fit to page” — the scale needs to be 100% to print and line up properly.

Please do not alter the cards, remove the disclaimer or the copyright information. These are free to use but no one has permission to sell the card page. Please give credit where credit is due and refer members to this page if they would like their own page of cards.

The PDF file to download is located beneath each card preview picture.

Enjoy!

Enzymes: Today’s Modern Diet

Enzyme_Header_LL

Our bodies must have enzymes to live. There are several types of enzymes; in this post we will discuss the three major enzymes that assist us with digestion. Enzymes are biological catalysts, which are made of proteins, that speed up chemical reactions. With regards to the digestion process, enzymes break down foods so we can obtain the nutrients we need from our food to not only survive but to remain at optimal wellness levels.

Enzymes are very specific and each type of enzyme will only “break down” one type of “food.”

Fats are broken down by enzymes called lipase and this process happens in the mouth. Lipase are in your saliva.

Proteins are broken down by enzymes called protease (aka pepsin) and this process happens in the stomach.

Carbohydrates (aka starches) are broken down by enzymes called amylase and this process happens in the small intestine.

Enzymes cannot work, however, without co-factors, and each enzyme is designed to work with a particular co-factor. You have heard of these co-factors, they are called “minerals.” Unless an enzyme is accompanied by its co-factor/mineral, or a substitute co-factor/mineral, it will simply sit around doing nothing. There are eighteen co-factor/minerals in human nutrition. They are, in alphabetical order: calcium, chlorine, chromium, cobalt, copper, fluorine, iodide, iron, magnesium, manganese, molybdenum, phosphorus, potassium, selenium, sodium, sulfur, vanadium and zinc. Some of these can substitute for each other, and in this way the body maintains a survival advantage in time of dietary imbalance.

Unfortunately, today’s modern diet often creates dietary imbalance with both minerals and enzymes. This is why supplements are important: they can help us maintain dietary balance so we can get the most nutrients from our foods. Young Living has several types of supplemental enzymes along with a mineral supplement. The below graphic helps focus on each of Young Living’s enzyme supplements along with their mineral essence supplement.

We hope this helps shed some light on why we think enzyme and mineral supplementation is vital for every person.

Below are a couple of videos that, while simplistic and short, may help those who enjoy and/or find visual cues helpful when learning:

Desktop Organizer: Free Graphic

LLDesktop_Header

Running a home business can be a bit overwhelming. However, being organized helps reduce some of those feelings. One area that many forget to organize is their desktop. Never fear, the Lavender Lobby team has come up with a great solution — a widescreen desktop organizer background.

Best of all, we made just for you at no charge!

This background fits a 1920 x 1080 widescreen size. There are two options — you can use one with the headers/titles for each section already in place “Business, Graphics, and Family” or you can use your favorite graphic editing software to type in your own headers/titles for each section. The colors selected offer the clearest view for the folder font color (white).

You will need to click/touch the preview graphic below to download the full size graphic. The preview graphic will not be the correct size so be sure to click/touch the preview picture, this will open a screen with the full size graphic. Download it just as you would any other graphic/picture that you download from the internet. Specifics will depend on the type of device you are using.

If you do not know how to change your desktop background, do a quick internet search for the instructions. You can typically find instructions that will walk you through the process, complete with pictures. Changing your background graphic is not at all complicated. Take a breath, believe in yourself, you can do it!

Please do not alter either graphic, with the exception of adding headers/titles for the graphic with the blank headers. Otherwise, please leave as is.

No one has permission to sell this graphic or offer to add headers for any monetary/personal gain.

Sorry, we will not alter the graphic for you.

With all of the necessities out of the way, we hope you enjoy!

Topical Aromatic Essential Oils: Supportive?

CosmeticClaims

Today’s post will hopefully shed some light on a topic that is beginning to creep into some conversations regarding essential oils classified as “cosmetic.” Essential oils that are stated for use as “topical/aromatic” are classified as cosmetic.

So, what is a cosmetic? According to the FDA, a cosmetic is:

FDAWhatIsACosmetic

Click/Touch here to visit the web page where you can find this definition.

This means that claims cannot be made that imply/state a physiological effect on the human body. For example, a claim such as, “supports a healthy immune system” implies the product will have a physiological effect on one’s healthy immune system.

What is a physiological effect?

According to Merriam-Webster the definition of PHYSIOLOGICAL is:

1: of or relating to physiology
2: characteristic of or appropriate to an organism’s healthy or normal functioning

How do I know Young Living agrees with this and is telling us to not make structure-function claims for essential oils classified as topical/aromatic?

Young Living posted a document titled “Generic Topical and Aromatic Claims” in U.S. members virtual office sometime last week (week of 6 July 2015-10 July 2015). In this document on page 2 it says:

CosmeticsCANNOThaveSFClaimsPG2

See the last sentence, “Cosmetic products are not allowed to be marketed based on structure/function claims.”

Not sure what a structure/function claim is? This is also covered in the same document sent out by Young Living “Generic Topical and Aromatic Claims” (stated above):

WhatIsStructureFunctionClaims

If you do not want to hop on over to your virtual office to obtain the PDF version of the “General Topical and Aromatic Claims” document posted by Young Living, you can click/touch here to download this document to your device.

So, now that you have your head spinning your probably wondering what you CAN say about topical/aromatic essential oils? Young Living has developed (and is continuing to develop) a list of approved claims for each of their oils, including those classified as topical/aromatic. This list is updated each week and can be found in Young Living members virtual office (U.S. Members, other countries? Please check your virtual office to see if you have one posted, if not, contact Young Living to enquire about having one placed in your virtual office).

Click/Touch here to download the most recent (as of 12 July 2015) version of Young Living approved product claims.

Young Living has also included a brief section about what can be said in the “Generic Topical and Aromatic Claims” document, as shown below:

WhatIsACosmeticGeneralClaims

In summary . . .

Any essential oils classified as topical/aromatic (cosmetic) cannot be discussed in the same way as those classified as dietary supplements.
Meaning, any oil classified as topical/aromatic cannot be used with structure-function claims (such as, supports a healthy immune system or supports a healthy respiratory system).

Topical/Aromatic classified oils can only be discussed in terms of:

Making you look better, externally — example: ”improves the appearance of skin when applied topically.”

Making the air smell better.

Promoting an aroma that may make you “feel” a certain way — example: “rub on feet or chest before exercising to create an uplifting and inspiriting aroma.”

Not sure which oils are classified as topical/aromatic? Click/Touch here to view a list of those oils.

We hope this helps clear some/most of the confusion surrounding topical/aromatic essential oils.
