This post is super exciting! It brings together the ease of quick clean-ups with the fresh scent of Thieves Household Cleaner.
It is quick and easy to make your own all-purpose wipes. Don’t worry we will walk you through the process.
Supplies Needed:
1 Container — we used an empty wipe (or baby wipe) container
1 Gallon Distilled Water
1 Bottle Thieves Household Cleaner
200 quality coffee filters
Instructions:
Fill container of your choice with approx. 4-6 cups of distilled water. We filled our empty wipe container about half full (see below).
Now add 2-4 tablespoons of Thieves Household Cleaner. We added 1/4 cup (4 Tbsp) and this is what it looked like (see below) but we may add just 2 Tbsp for the next batch. Place lid and give a gently swirl.
Now add coffee filters and mash down until covered with the cleaning mixture. Place on lid, turn upside down and allow to sit upside down for just a minute or two, then turn upright.
That’s it! You’re DIY all-purpose wipes are now ready to use on just about anything that needs to be cleaned.
I’ve seriously not found anything, yet, that I could not clean with the Thieves Household Cleaner. Just be sure you test a small spot if using on anything questionable.

Love the simplicity of this recipe. Can this be used as hand (& butt) wipes too?
I know there are recipes to make hand soap with Thieves Household Cleaner so I would think so. However, since it is not marketed for such, I do not want to say for sure. 😉 I would say that this would be a personal choice for each family/person.
Personally I would use a very very weak solution for butt (bum – I’m English) as the skin down there is particularly sensitive, and I’d also recommend a very careful patch test first!

LOVE this idea! A question though – I just tried making this and the results seem like there might be waaaaaay too much liquid in the container, even after incorporating the coffee filters. Does it all eventually get absorbed by the filters? Thanks!
Thanks, Lucy! It probably will depend on the type of filters you used and how many. We used 200 filters and did not have excess liquid. Check it in an hour and if need be, add more filters.

Not sure which brand was used for the tutorial but currently we use the “If You Care” brand. They are unbleached and work great. You can find them here:

Love this! I enjoy using them, but the coffee filters all stick together. Any ideas on how to more easily separate them?
Thanks for writing. This is where trial and error comes into play. Some brands of coffee filters do stick together more easily than others. The thicker-quality type of coffee filters will still stick together but will separate very quickly and easily with merely a quick rub of the finger. Try a different brand until you find one that comes apart more easily.

Thank you for your question. We reused a cleaning wipe container and removed the label so not sure of exact size. The label only provides the number of cleaning wipes. We have heard others say a cleaned out coffee container (like the large “Folger’s” size works really well) and others have reused a baby wipe container and said that worked for them. Apologies for not being able to give specifics but hopefully that helps some.

Do you pull the wipes through dispenser slot, or open up the entire top to get the wipes out?

Some of us pull through the top (better when using the “cut good quality paper towel rolls in half” option) and some get the wipes out through the top. I think it will depend on the type of container you select.

I made wipes with paper towels and was disappointed with the results. The coffee filter idea will be my next try when the paper towels are used up.
Every brand/type of paper towel is made differently. Be sure to get a high-quality, strong paper towel. Ones that are more like “fabric” work the best.
